New Introductions
2008 · 2007

This year at Cates Family Glads we're trying something a little different: "brand new" introductions of some rare old-time varieties. We have several other old-timers in the works for next year's catalog, but were unable to build up enough stock to justify releasing them this year.

Adventure: Florists love to buy unique glads, and this novelty green and orange variety is no exception.
1964 Roberts introduction · 420 E

Beverly Ann: This modest, pure light lavender glad once held top commercial status. It is robustly healthy and propagates rapidly.
1962 Summerville introduction · 475 EM

Charisma: There are several lovely "peaches and cream" varieties available, but this is one of the best. Its lightly ruffled petals make it all the more appealing to floral designers.
1969 Baerman introduction · 445 M

Green Lace: Although it didn't really catch our notice at first, we now absolutely love this delicately-ruffled green glad.
1961 Pickell introduction · 302 EM

La Coruna: Another gorgeous "red-and-white," this deep red variety with cream markings is the proper height for a florist's sensation.
1957 K+M introduction · 459 M

Poco: This variety, which alternates between face-up and face-out versions, has always been a favorite of our family. We have several floral customers who adore great minis, and Poco, with a deep lavender halo around a cream blotch, is no exception.
1978 Jenkins introduction · 277 M

Sunbonnet Sue: Bob Martin describes this pure buff glad as a variety sure to take a blue ribbon. With formal placement and excellent health and propagation, it's a definite show glad.
1967 Pazderski introduction · 220 E

T 503: It seems we've had this variety forever. we've always called this medium rose with a white halo our "foolproof glad" since even the most inept floral designer is capable of creating gorgeous arrangements with it.
1975(?) Turk introduction · 365 M

Towhead: This yellow mini is still one of the nicest glads in its class, both for show and designing. A florist summed it up last summer: "Guests are coming up this weekend. That is the one I want for a special arrangement!"
1960 Larus introduction · 212 M
